The challenge
Payment initiation and payment confirmation are separate events. Provider callbacks, application records, and accounting entries need a coherent integration path, while the services handling those events need a maintainable deployment environment.
The engineering approach
- Connect Telebirr, bank, and USSD payment flows through FastAPI-based integration services.
- Handle payment callbacks as part of the transaction lifecycle rather than relying on a customer's browser returning to the application.
- Integrate Odoo reconciliation into the broader payment workflow so payment information can be compared with business records.
- Work with Nginx, Envoy, and systemd for request routing and service operation.
